About The Founder

Fisseha Wolde Amanuel

Fisseha Wolde Amanuel, once hailed as the shining star of Ethiopian football, dazzled fans with his unparalleled skill and intuition on the field, earning the local nickname ‘Koas Fidelu’ or ‘The Ball Artist’. Renowned for his lightning-fast shots and strategic prowess, he left spectators in awe, earning him titles like “the bombshell” and “the bullet”.

As a versatile player, he represented Ethiopia in numerous African Cup of Nations tournaments, leaving an indelible mark on the sport. His tenure at St. George Football Club witnessed unprecedented success, with three consecutive winning streaks illuminating his career. However, his quest for knowledge led him to the United States for higher education, temporarily departing from the football world.

Yet, his impact transcended borders as he graced the Major League Soccer arena alongside legends like Pele, Beckenbauer, and Cruyff, captivating audiences with his extraordinary talent. Beyond the pitch, Fisseha co-founded the Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA), fostering the growth of soccer across communities. Serving as its president for five years, his dedication to the sport remains unmatched, leaving a lasting legacy in Ethiopian football history.

Agar for Ethiopia Youth Association, an NGO, was established by Fisseha Wolde Amanuel, 2001. The organization’s ambitious mission aimed at tackling social issues by emphasizing sportsmanship over drug use and addressing youth idleness. Fisseha, upon returning from the USA in 2001, envisioned fostering youth development through the transformative power of sports. Although the initial plan was to commence operations in Addis Ababa and expand rapidly across regions, circumstances led Agar to become an independent institution, focusing on serving a small group of orphaned children.

Thanks to the dedication and enlightened leadership of Fisseha, the founder of Agar for Ethiopian Youth Association, the journey of Agar over the past 23 years has had a profound impact in supporting vulnerable orphaned children. Fisseha’s commitment has been instrumental in shaping Agar into a force for positive change, providing essential resources and care for those in need. The organization’s sustained efforts under Fisseha’s guidance showcase how a visionary leader can transform a simple idea in to a powerful instrument of social impact,  leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and support for orphaned children.
